  • January 31, 2025 is Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Awareness Day

    The IRS sponsors a nationwide multilingual effort to increase awareness of who is eligible for the EITC, encourage workers to file tax returns in order to claim it and other refundable credits. The IRS works with national partners, community-based coalitions, and local partners, such as CAN-DO to publicize eligibility for the credit.

  • MBTA Reduced Fare Program expanded:

    MBTA Reduced Fare Program Expanded

    The MBTA’s income-eligible reduced fare program offers reduced fares to riders between the ages of 18–64 who are enrolled in an approved state assistance program.

    Income-eligible CharlieCards can be loaded with cash value for roughly 50% reduced one-way fares, $10 7-Day LinkPasses, or $30 monthly LinkPasses.

    In a ceremony at the Park Plaza Hotel, William James College bestowed one of three honorary degrees to CAN-DO Executive Director Josephine McNeil at graduation ceremonies alongside two hundred students.

    Expanded ConnectorCare Eligibility

    About 50,000 MA residents just became eligible for ConnectorCare, the state's subsidized health insurance program, thanks to expanded income limits. Individuals making at most $72,000 a year or a family of four bringing in $150,000 or less will be able to enroll in the 2024 plans.
